Audio book is a general term for a book that you listen to, usually narrated by a real person. Audio books are sometimes also called "talking books" (written with lower case t and b) or spoken word books.
eBooks can be read using "text-to-speech". In this case, the devices/computers and eBook readers read out the text on screen. eBooks are available through various services.
Talking Books (with a capital T and B) is the name of a service that provides audio books on USB stick (pen drive).
Malta Libraries
In order to make use of our services you must first become a member of Malta Libraries. Membership is free to everyone!
1. Fill in the online registration form.
You will then receive your membership card by post for safekeeping, and all the necessary information via email too.
Once you're a member, you can start downloading eBooks, Audiobooks and Magazines too.
2. Download the Libby Reading App on your preferred device (as explained below).
3. Log in by typing 20201 + membership card number as well as your password.

You can borrow up to 3 eBooks/Audiobooks/Magazines for a standard loan period of 3 weeks!
Talking Book Service
Aside from all this, Malta Libraries also offer the Talking Book Service (Talking Books Section, Central Public Library, PRof. j. Mangion Street, Floriana FRN1800). This is an Audiobook service on pen drives. The material is recorded in English and in Maltese. If you sign up for this service (which is also free) you will be able to select titles from a catalog and have the pen drives sent to you for free via post.
